The Ice Screamers is an international organization dedicated to preserving the history and memorabilia of ice cream and soda fountain. Annual convention in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

NICRA

The National Ice Cream Retailers Association, founded in 1933, is a trade organization for ice cream and frozen dessert retailers, wholesalers and distributors with members in the United States, Canada and several other countries.

The Soda Fountain

A website created to serve as both public forum and to assist people in their quest for information regarding soda history, soda fountain creation and the collecting of soda related memorabilia. Also houses great links to soda websites.

ZAHARAKOS

Zaharako’s has been a functioning soda fountain & ice cream parlor since 1900, located in downtown Colombus, Indiana. Recently restored to its original grandeur, Zaharako’s features Art Nouveau stained glass panels, carved mahogany woodwork, marble counters and a pair of soda fountains purchased at the St. Louis World’s Fair in 1904. A museum dedicated to antique mechanical musical organs and 19th century soda fountains is adjacent to this world-class attraction.

FIX THE PUMPS

Fix the Pumps by Darcy O’Neill tells the real history of the soda fountain, starting with its invention, through its golden era of creativity and into its dependence on patent medicine and narcotics. The history of the soda fountain chronicles the emergence of America onto the world stage from the mid-19th century through World War II.

RETAIL CONFECTIONERS INTERNATIONAL

RCI is a non-profit trade association serving the chocolate and confectionery industry since 1917. Members are comprised of chocolate makers, confectioners and industry suppliers with a passion for excellent confectionery. RCI provides a forum for confectioners to meet, network, share ideas, solve mutual problems, and develop their candy making and entrepreneurial skills.

SCHIMPFF’S CONFECTIONERY

G.A. Schimpff’s Confectionery is one of the oldest, continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States. It was opened in 1891 in downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana by Gustav Schimpff Sr. and Jr. and remains in operation by the Schimpff family today. An Art Deco soda fountain and beautifully appointed candy museum complement the hand-crafted confections at this Midwestern treasure.

OLD CITY

Page linking the now defunct Old City Civic Association {OCCA} and the Old City Arts Association. These two organizations are dedicated to the civic, cultural and business life in the Old City section of Philadelphia.

The Friends of Franklin is an international membership society interested in promoting the study and scholarship of Benjamin Franklin.

Elfreth’s Alley dates back to 1702 and is America’s oldest residential street. Located just two blocks from The Franklin Fountain, the alley boasts 33 historic homes, an interpretive museum and a strong community group, The Elfreth’s Alley Association.
